In the investigation of a case, it’s the facts that are often most important. In the courtroom
however, it is the story those facts tell that provides the context upon which a matter
is won or lost. Heather Karl’s ability to bring all the evidence into clear focus in order
to convey a concise and compelling case for her clients is second to none. Just as a great
author will take their reader from page one to the last chapter in order to define motive,
clarify conflict and provide rational resolution, Ms. Karl is able to create strategic narratives
for her clients that are persuasive and incontestable.

This singular ability has allowed Ms. Karl to successfully help clients in a wide arena of
legal matters. These include complex intellectual property defense, antitrust and class action
matters, civil rights protection, employment law, and a host of other general law issues.

Ms. Karl received her Bachelor of Arts from California State University in Long Beach,
California. She went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from the University of California’s
Hastings College of Law in San Francisco, California. In addition to her exemplary
academic work during this period, Ms. Karl served a summer associate position for a
San Francisco law firm where she drafted pleadings, discovery and motions, conducted
research and drafted memoranda. She also served at the college’s Civil Justice Clinic
where she negotiated a settlement on behalf of her client in an employer’s appeal from
the labor board. During the case, Ms. Karl was responsible for researching employment
law, gathering evidence for trial, interviewing witnesses and negotiating the settlement
agreement. In 2008 Ms. Karl was awarded an externship with Justice Eileen Moore of the
California Fourth District Court of Appeal.

Ms. Karl was the team lead on a long-term litigation project for a San Francisco law firm
that assisted a large pharmaceutical company being investigated by the Department of
Justice. She worked as in-house litigation support for Google, Inc. (via Adecco) at their
headquarters on a variety of technology and intellectual property right issues. In all matters,
Ms. Karl’s client-centered focus on thorough research, strategic planning and decisive action
has earned her numerous accolades from both clients and peers alike.
